Originally a large castle, it was built in the 13th century on a sandstone ridge divided into several blocks and was mostly wooden. It was destroyed in the 15th century, probably in 1425 during the conquest of the nearby Valdštejn castle by Jan Žižka’s army.
Two rooms carved into the rock and a lower part of the tower construction is all that is preserved of the castle. The outer bailey is divided from the inner bailey by a moat cut into the rock which is accessible from both sides via stairs.
